Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order Has No Multiplayer or Microtransactions

Electronic Arts’ focus on live-service has led to complaints for many of its recent titles like Anthem (which had its own development troubles as well). There were concerns that Respawn Entertainment’s Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order would go down the same path. However, producer Blair Brown confirmed on Twitter that there would be no microtransactions or multiplayer in the action adventure title.

Brown said he was “So happy to be working on a single player story focused game again” in a recent tweet. While this does raise questions about post-launch support – will there be free updates, DLC or expansions? – it should quell some fear of the story not being a focal point. Now the real question is how the gameplay looks.

Leaks over the past few days have discussed the Dark Souls-like combat of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order while also noting parry mechanics akin to Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. One part of the leaks definitively confirmed is that the game is being developed on Unreal Engine 4 and not Frostbite Engine. Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is out in Holiday 2019 for Xbox One, PS4 and PC but stay tuned for more details from the Star Wars Celebration in the meantime.
