19 TV Shows That Let People Down After The First Episode

We asked members of the BuzzFeed Community to tell us which TV shows let them down after the first episode. Here are the shocking results:

CW / Via giphy.com

At first I thoughtRiverdalewas going to be a slightly stylized murder mystery. I was NOT expecting to see drugs called “Jingle Jangle,” involvement with the mafia, and prison fight clubs.

Parks and Rec

NBC / Via relatablefriends.tk

The first episode seemed okay, but in the following onesParks and Recrevealed itself to be a less interesting knockoff ofThe Office.

Chilling Adventures of Sabrina

Netflix / Via vanessacarlysle.tumblr.com

The first episode was everything. The vibe was awesome, and the interactions with the aunts were on point, but by Episode 3 I was getting bored. I finished the first season and was so disappointed with the direction of the show.

13 Reasons Why

Netflix / Via giphy.com

I loved Clay’s reaction when he listened to the first tape and the way he was debating whether he should listen to the rest of them. Then Episode 2 happened and I just couldn’t finish it. It felt like the drama from Episode 1 had just disappeared.

Pretty Little Liars

Freeform / Via romantickisses.tumblr.com

Pretty Little Liarshad a nice premise and showed lots of promise, but at some point, things got too crazy. It stopped making sense, and the suspension of disbelief required to watch the show became too much.

Modern Family

ABC / Via giphy.com

The pilot set up interesting characters, good dynamics, and great humor! I liked the first few seasons, but I thought the show went downhill. No other episode lives up to the pilot, though.

The Walking Dead

AMC / Via giphy.com

The first episode ofThe Walking Deadwas epic, but then it spiraled down to the same recycled plot twist with different characters in different locations.

FX / Via legionfx.tumblr.com

The first episode was unlike any show I’d ever seen — it was intriguing and just confusing enough to keep me hooked. But the excitement disappeared almost immediately. The characters were still really interesting, but the plot didn’t feel as fresh and different as the pilot set it up to be.

Tidying Up With Marie Kondo

Netflix / Via giphy.com

Everybody on the internet was talking it up, so I decided to watch it. The first episode was entertaining enough, even though it didn’t really live up to my expectations, but then the second episode was just the same thing all over again. And then the same with episode three! It was a real disappointment.

Shake It Up

Disney Channel / Via fox-mouth.tumblr.com

I watched the first episode ofShake it Upwhen it came out and thought it would be my new fave, but then literally every other episode I saw after that wasn’t nearly as funny or heartfelt. It definitely failed to build the meaningful friendship between Rocky and CeCe that the first episode set up so beautifully.

Legends of Tomorrow

CW / Via lotsource.tumblr.com

The first episode really delivered on the premise of a huge superhero show and had all the feelings of watching the firstAvengersfilm, but the rest of the series just felt like watchingThe Avengersa couple more times and realizing it isn’t actually good.

NBC / Via princessclarke.tumblr.com

The pilot was amazing! A plane lands five years after it goes missing and no one on board has aged or knows what’s going on. I made it half a season. The storyline got muddled and moved away from what happened to the plane. It was very disappointing.

ABC / Via marvelheroes.tumblr.com

Marvel’sInhumansbegan on a high note with loads of bright and interesting characters, but sadly I found the next episodes rather lackluster. I gave up on Episode 4 of Season 1.

Twin Peaks

ABC / Via giphy.com

I don’t think the original run ofTwin Peaksever quite recaptured the full glory of its pilot.

NBC / Via giphy.com

Smashhad one of the best pilots I’ve ever seen, but as anyone who saw it when it aired knows, the rest of the series failed to deliver. I heard the finale was as good as the first episode, but I never finished it and I’m not sure if I ever will.

AndMad Men

AMC / Via giphy.com

The first episode was cool because of the gender dynamics in the office, but it was a total snoozefest after that.
